ST. O is a vintage fashion retailer that offers timeless garments remodelled with a mod aesthetic. The three founders identified a common love for the reinvention of fashion and took the bold step to turn this common love into a unique and tangible business idea.
I was recently invited to a fabulous but somewhat cramped fashion launch at Wolves Café in Illovo, Johannesburg. I say cramped because Wolves is the size of a shoebox, however the bespoke vintage fashion aesthetic that is ST. O (Saint O) very quickly made up for the lack of space and the selective lack of goodie bags.
We were treated to a blitz of slinky models and stylised vintage fashion finds. I had to strain my neck to get a glimpse of the hurried models during the show which lasted only a few minutes, and without sounding like a prude I kept wishing the models would walk slower and that there were was more space for them to strut and display their stand-off poses.
Time and space aside, it was a visually pleasing show and I managed to share some praises and constructive critique with some of the ST. O founders.
ST. O Autumn 14/15 Lookbook- Femme Range:
Founded in July by Scott Grey-Whiteley, Teddy Weru and Evander Obi out of a common love for fashion, ST. O is a vintage fashion retailer that offers timeless garments remodelled with a mod aesthetic. The three founders identified a common love for the reinvention of fashion and took the bold step to turn this common love into a unique and tangible business idea.
ST. O can be described as a fashion brand that remodels once off hand me down pieces to fit the individual in a fresh and complimenting style, thanks to their in house tailor.
ST. O Launch- Homme Range:
You can purchase their reworked pieces at their pop up stores (@_SaintO on Twitter and Instagram for details) and their latest pop up was at The Zone, Rosebank on 22 August.
